Our History

Print and Pollards

Printing has an important place in human history, as the first mass communication technology. At various times, societies and economies have been revolutionised by the spread of knowledge and ideas which print enabled. The Pollard family began printing in 1781, and the business has provided print services in many ways since then.

Most of the early records concerning William Pollard & Co Ltd were destroyed in the Exeter Blitz of 1942. We are grateful to the historians and others who have provided evidence to help in building an understanding of the company story prior to that date. Research goes on, and any contributions would be very welcome.
